baby bump, week 29

So I'm 29 weeks now!  Almost 3/4 of the way...which sounds far.  But there is still another 2 1/2 months, give or take a few weeks, to go - so it also seems kinda far away.  And I feel definitely bigger lately:

Yep, bigger.  Morgan and I went to a childbirth prep class on Wednesday and the previous Wednesday - basic stages-of-labor stuff and Lamaze relaxation techniques.  Morgan thought the relaxation stuff was kinda corny but came anyway because he loves me like that :) and I feel a little more prepared for future events.  So  good all around :)

Christmas trees!

So I have a bunch of nativities that I set out each year, for the reminder of the real reason for the season.  Also I have had this tiny, 3-foot (to the very top) Christmas tree since college...and I kinda love it, it's my familiar Christmas friend.

His name is Timothy, just in case you wondered.  Timothy the Christmas tree :)

This year, we needed another tree - since Morgan has gotten an ornament every year, and we have them all now, but we couldn't really put them on little Timothy.  Pretty sure he would fall over.  And also I haven't had a real, from-a-living-plant Christmas tree since...well I was young and just remember that vacuuming the needles was not fun.  Also loud - vacuums sound really loud when they have to actually pick up something, right?  Anyway, so we got a real tree for Morgan's ornaments:

Hmm, you can see the ornaments well but it doens't look so Christmasy...

That's better!  Oh and his name is Carl.  Carl the Christmas tree :)  Carl isn't very big either - maybe 4 feet? - since our tiny apartment can't handle a normal-sized tree if we want to be able to, oh you know, walk around and stuff.  We decorated him with hand-strung cranberry and popcorn strands - this was a labor of love, since stringing that stuff makes your fingers sore!  It's a good thing Carl isn't big, after all.

Just wanted to share a fun bit of Christmas in our home :)

baby bump, week 27

Somehow, despite all the eating of the Thanksgiving food and leftovers, I don't feel like I've gotten bigger in the past few weeks!  It's completely possible that I have, but I haven't noticed it, so maybe I haven't gotten bigger (or bigger enough to notice).  Or I'm in denial.  Something like that :)  However, the doctor said on Wednesday that my weight was good, so I think she's saying I don't need to limit Christmas treats and stuff...right?  You agree, right?

Despite my feeling of non-lots-of-growingness, here is a picture of what I'm looking like at 27 weeks:

Hey my hair is looking good in this picture!  Apparently it just needed a picture where it thought the focus wasn't on it...mwahahaha :)

Also I really like this off-white sweater thing I got from Motherhood Maternity.  The design is pretty hole-y so I can't wear it alone, but that keeps me cooler.  And I can wear it with a long-sleeved shirt underneath, as pictured, or with a short-sleeve shirt if I'm feeling hotter that day.  Versatility in a pregnancy wardrobe is awesome!  Also sales on top of sale prices is awesome - the only way to buy crazily-priced maternity stuff.

Remember how I said we ordered actual, real-people silverware?  Silverware that isn't cheap starting-college stuff from Walmart that bends like crazy, when you try to scoop ice cream?  Sadly we did not have it in time to make our Thanksgiving table look even more grown-up and official - but we have it now!  Ta-da!:

Pretty nice, huh?  I got to choose it and look at ALL the Oneida silverware options because I wanted to (and Morgan didn't :) ).  And so we got something pretty but simple and basic - and it's a stainless steel/some other metal mix, so it should hold up fine in the dishwasher.  Crossing my fingers!  But it's super-sturdy and looks pretty and can scoop ice cream well...all the stuff that really matters :)

Thanksgiving!

Don't you love Thanksgiving?  The food, the being close to Christmas, the food, the vacation from work/school...also the good food? :)  This is a holiday where we end up celebrating food, which isn't a bad thing, especially when you're pregnant and finally have a sorta excuse for pigging out as much as you normally do.  At least that's how I feel.

Since we are far from family (sadness!) and so are some other couples in our ward, we invited one of our couple friends, Chris and Lacie, over to join us.  I made ham (tastes better and is WAY easier than turkey), rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy, and pie.  Well, pumpkin pie and a pie crust for this easy and tasty chocolate cool whip pie that Morgan made.  Super easy: melt some chocolate chips, mix with cool whip, mix in some more (unmelted) chocolate chips, put in pie crust.  Easy, and SO good...and would be just as good without the time-consuming pie crust, too.  Just sayin'.  Chris and Lacie brought stuffing, green bean casserole, apple cobbler stuff, and drinks.  Behold the food:

This is the regular food, at least.  No picture of the dessert, though - we didn't care about cameras by that time :)  Also excuse the blue-ness of the picture of Morgan- not sure why that happened.

And here are our guests:

Chris and Lacie are super nice and like playing games too, so we're good friends in the ward.  We used our nice dishes and serving bowl and gravy boat (thanks to Morgan's parents and grandparents!), and it's fun to have special-occasion dishes to use.  We ordered new silverware (since we have been using my plastic-handled Walmart silverware), but it won't be here until tomorrow probably.  Or else our table would have looked even nicer :)

And I got my hair to look halfway decent for a picture (but not my face...the blurriness is my fault, as I tried to take my own picture.  You notice how that usually doesn't go so well?):

Still long enough to do stuff and look cute with my round face, but not too long-and-straight to look good with my pregnantness.  Perfect!

In conclusion, yay for Thanksgiving food!  And new haircuts!  Except not together - having hair in the food would not be something to be so thankful about.

baby bump, weeks 23 and 25

So yes, I'm still behind in blogging...oh well :)

I'm 25 1/2 weeks along now, and getting to the end of my second trimester.  And also getting tired more easily - these stomach muscles (what little of them there are :) ) are not used to holding up an extra big bump in front!  And it will only get bigger...lovely!  I've grown a lot, it seems, in the past couple weeks; compare:

exhibit A- picture of me at week 23

and exhibit B - at week 25

See, I look bigger, right?  Well I (and my muscles) think so, and our votes are the ones that count :)

Oh, and also I got my hair cut, which you can sort of see in the week 25 picture.  It is just so straight and was getting so long that it looked weird with my ballooning figure...at least I thought so, and my vote seems to be a majority in recent polls :)  I'll get a picture up of my haircut, which I think is cute, when my hair decides to cooperate and look good in a picture.  That will be soon, I hope.

Um, but my hair makes no promises.

Baby bump, 20 weeks

So I'm told I'm a little behind on blogging...which is probably true (guilty smile :) ).  Today I am 22 weeks, but this picture is from 20 weeks.

I think I may be a little bigger now - I'll have to have Morgan take a picture in the next day or two and post that, so as to compare :)

I'm due March 1st, and I'm at the very end of my fifth month.  So I could be having a baby in 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 months!  Crazy and also awesome.  I'm a little past the official halfway mark, and it seems like it's gone by both slowly and quickly.  Isn't life always like that?

Our baby!!!!

So...we're having a baby!  And he is a boy, or so we are told.  This is baby Beuford (per Morgan's impulse naming suggestion...hmm, he may need to work on those impulses...).  Don't worry, we don't have it in for the kid, and we'll choose a better name before he is born.  Or maybe shortly after his birth - we will see :)

We're so, SO excited, and I think he's the cutest thing ever :)  Evidence #1:
